I met Andy Green as I was walking the streets of my home town. I came across the most remarkable man busking with of all things a Nation Steel guitar [a polished steel acoustic guitar with a Cadillac radiator grill] - and man could he play it. I stopped in my tracks. Listening enthralled - as he played I knew I wanted to work with him. We arranged to meet a few times and talked about aims and directions and then took an afternoon session at the W Dance Studio to record. At a nod from me we started to play - like we'd been together 10 years - and never a note before - like the proverbial hole in one - ten times in a row !! A quite remarkable synergy of expression. after an hour all but of 'Given' invention - we stopped - and stopped the tape. Only to start it again a half hour later. The first tape is Blues suite 1 and the second is Blues suite 2. And with the totally natural acoustic of the W's stone walls, what you hear is exactly what we played - live to tape gaps as well - it is totally live. It must have written into nature from the very start that we would meet and play this. Enjoy - National Steel Blue - our given name - Blues suites 1 & 2. Was ever a blues played like this ?
